Dr. Soojin Lee is a Korean-American conductor, violist, and educator recognized for her work in orchestral conducting, music education, and performance.

Dr. Lee has been invited to conduct the Berlin Symphony Orchestra in Germany in August 2026. In 2024, she was selected as Assistant Conductor for Wagner’s Die Walküre and Holst’s The Planets at the Miami Music Festival, and also conducted CCM’s Realizing Rossini Opera Program at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She has served as Music Director of the University of Findlay Orchestra and the KCC String Chamber Orchestra, and has been a faculty member at Columbus Academy. Her conducting experience also includes leading the Collegiate Wind Ensemble and University Band at The Ohio State University, as well as teaching at the Columbus Youth Symphony Orchestra.

As a violist, Dr. Lee previously performed with the Korean National Symphony Orchestra and continues to appear as a soloist and chamber musician. She was awarded First Prize in the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, which led to a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Her recital appearances also include a winner’s recital at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City. In addition, she has participated in distinguished programs and conferences including the Starling-DeLay Symposium on Violin Studies at The Juilliard School, the Viola International Congress at the University of Cincinnati, and the Vernon Castleman Viola Seminar at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Dr. Lee earned Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in Viola Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She also pursued orchestral conducting studies at CCM, completed a Master of Music degree in Conducting at The Ohio State University, and earned an Artist Diploma in Orchestral Studies from the Korea National University of Arts. Her conducting mentors include Samuel Lee (Seoungwon Lee), Russell Mikkelson, Mark Gibson, and Ahkai Pung and she studied viola with Masao Kawasaki and Catharine Lees.

Outside of music, Dr. Lee enjoys traveling with her family, meeting people from diverse backgrounds, and exploring new cultures and learning experiences.

Eric Tsai is an up and coming Taiwanese-American violinist whose playing has been described as both “dashing” and “heart-wrenching” (NZ Herald), and whose thoughtful approach to old and new works alike has earned him a place on stages across the globe. The 2nd prize winner of the 2019 Michael Hill International Violin competition, Eric has garnered critical acclaim as a soloist and chamber player, as well as a champion of music from Taiwan. Simultaneously, he is a committed educator, passionate about raising up the next generation of young musicians, and maintaining a highly successful private pre-college studio.

Performing as a featured artist throughout the United States, Europe, Taiwan, and New Zealand, Eric is deeply committed to spreading hope and light to audiences around the world through his art. In 2021, at the height of the worldwide pandemic, he partnered with Taiwan Connection’s education outreach program and traveled to elementary schools situated in under-reached communities across the country. Other past community engagement projects include performances at homeless shelters, hospitals, and veteran homes across New York and Philadelphia. Highlights of the 2025-2026 season include the inaugural season of his summer festival, SPIRITUS and continued residencies with Callis Ensemble. Starting in the fall of 2025, Eric will join the internationally recognized Callisto Quartet as their new first violinist, engaging in a busy touring and teaching schedule with the group.

Eric’s mentors include Catherine Cho, Ida Kavafian, and Shmuel Ashkenasi, and he has also worked closely with renowned artists such as Pamela Frank, Peter Wiley, Joseph Lin, Ralph Kirshbaum, and Joseph Silverstein. Recent awards include the semifinals at the Premio Paganini competition in Genoa, Italy, bronze medal at the Fischoff Competition with his piano trio, the prestigious Chimei Arts Award, and participation in the Honors chamber program at Juilliard for the 2022-23 season. Eric received his B.M. from the Curtis Institute of Music and his M.M. from the Juilliard School, and recently completed his coursework at StonyBrook University as a Staller Fellow. 

Violinist Gyusun Han was born and raised in South Korea, where she began her musical studies at age six. Ms. Han joined the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in 2021 as fourth chair in the first violin section. In 2024, she won the audition for Associate Concertmaster, a leadership role in which she continues to serve while also dedicating herself to mentoring the next generation of musicians. During the summer seasons, she performs with Summermusik, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra.

 

Ms. Han’s musical foundation began in South Korea, where she was accepted into the Korea National University of Arts as a young prodigy. She earned both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees under the tutelage of Nam Yun Kim and Bonjiu Koo. She subsequently moved to the United States to complete a second Master of Music degree at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), studying with Dr. Won-Bin Yim.

An accomplished soloist, Ms. Han made her debut at the Universal Arts Center in Seoul at age 10. She has since performed with the KNUA Symphony Orchestra and the Hyundai Youth Orchestra in Korea, as well as the Columbus Symphony, the Toledo Symphony, the CCM Philharmonic, and the CCM Concert Orchestra in the United States.

Her technical command has been recognized with distinctions at numerous competitions, including the Korea Times, Ewha & Kyunghyang, Strad, and Music Journal competitions, as well as the University of Cincinnati CCM Concerto Competition. In Korea, she was also a featured invitee to participate in the Young Musicians Festival.

As a devoted chamber musician, Ms. Han is a founding member of the FOVA Violin Quartet, which has performed extensively across Korea, China, and the United States. In 2024, she joined the Cygnus String Quartet, further expanding her collaborative reach.

In her free time, she enjoys reading and building LEGO sets.
